Unwanted ads like pop-ups or pop-unders are windows or advertisements that appear on a Web page without permission. Many times visiting a site will cause them to launch automatically. Mozilla Firefox can block most pop-ups if you adjust your Firefox options. You may also want to try searching for and installing a Mozilla Firefox add-on to block pop-ups. Be sure to download add-ons only from Mozilla Firefox’s collection.
Firefox Pop-up Settings
- 1.Click the “Firefox” menu option at the top of the Firefox window and select “Options.”
- 2.Click the “Content” tab near the top of the Options window.
- 3.Enable the “Block Pop-Up Windows” option so a check mark appears.
- 4.Click the “Exceptions…” button to add any sites you want to display pop-ups. Enter the website’s URL in the “Address of Web Site” field and click “Allow.” Click “Close” and “OK” to save your changes.
Firefox Add-ons
- 1.Open Firefox and click the “Firefox” menu option at the top of the Firefox window. Click “Add-ons” to enter the “Add-ons Manager” tab.
- 2.Click the “Get Add-ons” panel. Type “pop-up blocker” or equivalent term in the Search field and press “Enter.”
- 3.Find an add-on with a description similar to what you need. Check for one with good reviews.
- 4.Click the “Add to Firefox” button and follow the on-screen installation instructions. Click the “Restart Now” button and wait for Firefox to relaunch.
